
The “Socialism Forum” program, announced on BE’s social media, will feature the participation of the MEP and former PS Health Minister Marta Temido, who will discuss “The Future of the European Union.”
The debates will open on Saturday with José Manuel Pureza from the Bloco de Esquerda (BE), a candidate in the municipal elections for the Coimbra City Council, while the closing on Sunday will be conducted by the national coordinator, Mariana Mortágua.
On the first day, Ibon Uría Molero from the Spanish party Podemos will speak on “How to Communicate on the Left,” followed by a session on Artificial Intelligence with former parliamentary leader and Matosinhos municipal candidate Pedro Filipe Soares.
BE founder and former coordinator Francisco Louçã will address the question “Have You Seen Class Struggle on Your Dinner Plate?” Meanwhile, Cristina Mesquita de Oliveira, founder of VIDAs – Portuguese Association of Menopause, along with feminist activist Andrea Peniche, will debate “How to End the Taboo” surrounding menopause.
“The Crisis of Liberalism” will be the topic in a session led by founder Fernando Rosas, and gender equality activist Paula Cosme Pinto will speak at a session titled “From the Manosphere to the Ballot: Why Boys Are Voting Right.”
The day concludes with a session titled “Palestine Will Win,” featuring MEP and former party coordinator Catarina Martins and Brazilian activist Thiago Ávila. Last month, Ávila was part of the delegation on the Madleen sailboat, which aimed to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and was detained by Israeli authorities.
The second day begins with a lecture on security by former parliamentary leader Fabian Figueiredo. Luís Fazenda and José Manuel Pureza will discuss “Trump and International Disorder,” while researchers António Brito Guterres and Maria José Oliveira will cover the topic “Bemformoso – From Medieval Roots to Political-Media Ghetto.”
The “Socialism Forum” 2025, organized by BE and the European family “The Left,” will include representatives from the Spanish Podemos and France’s La France Insoumise.
