Spanish police detain Portuguese suspect for stabbing another during a graduation trip

A man was detained by the Guardia Civil today at the port of Palma while attempting to board a ferry bound for Valencia. This comes as a result of an investigation supported by the Local Police of Alcúdia, as per information from the police.

The individual had previously been identified by municipal officers, although there was speculation that he might have returned to Portugal. However, the Guardia Civil managed to locate him before he could leave the island.

The stabbing incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday during one of several altercations involving nearly 200 young students in and around the Hotel Bellevue.

The victim, a 24-year-old Portuguese national, suffered a stomach injury and was taken to a hospital.

Fortunately, the injury did not affect any vital organs, and thus, his life was not in danger.

Another individual was also injured and required hospital treatment.

In the last week, this hotel has hosted approximately 2,700 Portuguese students on year-end trips, with various incidents occurring, the causes of which remain unknown.

Police sources confirmed that in the past two nights, numerous fights of varying intensity have occurred among these groups of young people.
