Every Thursday, you will have a selection of the best produced in Italy at your disposal. With plenty of Prosecco, of course.
Contrary to what one might assume, sparkling wine has a very long history. This effervescent drink dates back to Ancient Greek times and was often noted by Greco-Roman writers, who at the time did not fully understand the phenomenon. Phases of the moon and evil spirits were some of the explanatory approaches to the appearance of bubbles in the glass.
Around the 17th century, however, after years of being considered an undesirable flaw, the British began to appreciate this particularity, studying it and understanding that the addition of sugar can cause a gaseous action in wine. Today, champagne and sparkling wine are two of the drinks of choice for many, serving as an accompaniment to lunch or dinner (and sometimes breakfast).
Nowadays, Italy is one of the main producers of this type of drink, with Prosecco being one of the unavoidable references. If you are one of the unconditional fans of this wine, we have good news: it is the protagonist of the new aperitif hour at Obicà Mozzarela Bar.
Every Thursday, from 6 pm, the drinks menu brings us the best champagnes and sparkling wines from the Italian Peninsula. To whet your appetite for dinner or to round off the day, the Rosé Extra Dry Canti sparkling wine (6€ glass/24€ bottle), from Piedmont and made from Pinot Noir and Prosecco Glera, stands out. Another relevant name is Prosecco Superiore Docg “Special Edition” (€32 a bottle), directly from northern Italy, near Venice.
The list of possibilities does not stop here, however. Red, white and rosé wine, as well as a wide range of cocktails and beers, are also an option in the late afternoon at Obicà Mozzarella Bar. As for snacks, to accompany a good glass of sparkling wine (or not), you can delight yourself with a careful selection of mozzarellas, ricotta and charcuterie of certified production.
Obicà Mozzarella Bar, which arrived in Portugal in 2021, already has two establishments in the country. One in Lisbon, at 90 Rua da Escola Politécnica, and another in Porto, at 10 Rua da Picaria.
