Sporting begin the 2023/24 soccer season on July 2 and will once again hold a training camp in Lagos, Algarve, the location that has hosted the “lions” team’s last three pre-seasons, the club said today.

Although it returns on Sunday July 2, the team will only be in the Algarve from July 15 to 26, during which time it will play private matches against Belgium’s Genk (July 19) and Spain’s Real Sociedad (July 25).

Then, at the end of the month, on July 30, the team led by Rúben Amorim will compete for the Five Violins trophy at Estádio José de Alvalade, in a match against Spanish club Villarreal.

A private match at Everton’s Goodison Park against Liverpool is also scheduled for early August.

In 2023/24, Sporting will take part in European competitions in the Europa League group stage, after failing to reach the “Champions” places last season, finishing fourth behind Sporting de Braga, who will start in the third qualifying round of the competition.
