A 38-year-old man was arrested today on the island of Madeira on strong suspicion of attempted homicide and possession of a prohibited weapon, according to the Polícia Judiciária (PJ).
In a statement, the PJ reported that the crimes occurred on Sunday at a restaurant and bar following a disagreement when the attacker inflicted “two stab wounds to the victim’s back.”
“The arrest was made pursuant to a warrant issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Funchal,” the note stated.
The PJ added that the suspect, who is scheduled for his first judicial hearing on Friday for the application of coercive measures, is known for committing several crimes, including physical assault.
