The Executive Committee of CDS-PP, during a meeting held last night, resolved to officially support the candidacy of Luís Marques Mendes for the presidential elections scheduled for January 18, 2026, according to a statement sent to the Lusa news agency.
The CDS-PP justifies its endorsement by asserting that the candidacy of the former PSD leader, a party with which CDS-PP has allied in recent elections, best encapsulates the political space that CDS-PP identifies with.
The party highlights the candidate’s political trajectory and experience, his knowledge of the competencies required for the role, and his dialogue skills and assurance of stability.
As reported to Lusa, Luís Marques Mendes attended a dinner on Wednesday with CDS-PP leaders who are part of the party’s Executive Committee.
Sources present at the event indicated that the party’s support for the former social-democratic leader’s candidacy was communicated during the occasion.
