A 54-year-old man has been placed in pre-trial detention on March 3, after allegedly stabbing another man in the neck the previous day with a pocketknife during a dispute in Casal de Cambra, Sintra.
The incident occurred on the night of March 2. It is reported by the Public Prosecutor’s Office that both the suspect and the victim had been consuming alcoholic beverages in an establishment in Casal de Cambra, Sintra.
It is strongly indicated that once both individuals were outside the establishment, they began to argue, during which the suspect allegedly used a pocketknife to strike the victim in the neck, causing severe bleeding, the statement added.
The injury resulted in the victim suffering from severe hemorrhagic shock, necessitating emergency surgery and multiple blood transfusions.
The victim remained in critical condition, with a guarded prognosis.
Following the initial judicial hearing, the criminal investigating judge decided to hold the suspect in pre-trial detention.
The inquiry is being led by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Department of Investigation and Penal Action (DIAP) of the Sintra Unit.
