
Public entities’ overdue payments amounted to 627.8 million euros by May, marking an increase of 77.5 million euros compared to the same period in 2024, as detailed in the budget execution summary.
“By the end of May, public entities’ overdue payments reached 627.8 million euros, representing a rise of 77.5 million euros from the same period last year and an increase of 142.3 million euros from the previous month,” according to the document from the Directorate-General for Budget.
The year-on-year development was influenced by an increase in the healthcare sector (168.1 million euros), partially offset by decreases in Central Administration, excluding healthcare subsector entities (-75.7 million euros), and Local Administration (-22.5 million euros).
Regarding monthly progression, the health sector contributed significantly (161.9 million euros), “mitigated by a decrease in Local Administration (-16.1 million euros).”
