In August 2025, the accumulated tax revenue of the State subsector amounted to 39,608.8 million euros, according to the budget execution summary released today.
Compared to August 2024, there was an increase of 3,164.7 million euros, or 8.7%.
In terms of direct taxes, there was an increase of 1,403.2 million euros, mainly due to the rise in personal income tax (IRS) revenue, which grew by 16.5%.
Meanwhile, corporate income tax (IRC) revenue contracted by 7.5% year-on-year, affected by the reduction in self-assessment payments, “as a result of the increase in account payments made in 2024.”
Regarding indirect taxes, there was an increase of 1,761.5 million euros compared to the same period in 2024, driven by the performance of net VAT (Value Added Tax) revenue (+9.4%).
The growth in net ISP (Tax on Petroleum Products) revenue by 12.8% and Tobacco Tax by 15% was also notable.
Excluding the extended VAT payment and deferred taxes payment under IRC, in February 2024, tax revenue saw a year-on-year gain of 7.9%.
During the period analyzed, tax refunds saw a decrease of 9.3% or 1,040.3 million euros compared to August 2024, pressured by the decline in IRC and VAT refunds.
