On the second day of voting on the specialty of OE2026, deputies approved a proposal from the BE requiring the Government to present a strategy in the first half of the next year, which includes sexual and reproductive health services in health centers and actions to prevent sexually transmitted infections.
The approved proposal aims to promote the individual’s overall well-being and the experience of healthy sexuality, as well as the prevention of sexual diseases or disorders, regardless of whether the person is of childbearing age.
The proposal also calls for consultations and information on the symptoms of pre- and post-menopause, as well as appropriate practices and therapies, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, tailored to the individual, their symptoms, and risk profile.
The BE wants to see training initiatives in healthcare concerning menopause and the standardization of prescribed medication subsidies.
The bloc’s proposal was not fully approved, and the section seeking “100% subsidy for nutritional supplements, vaginal moisturizers, and other non-pharmacological and pharmacological therapies” was excluded.
