Strike at Boeing Defense continues after union rejects proposal for the 4th time.

The IAM District 837 announced today that its more than 3,200 members have rejected Boeing’s latest offer, emphasizing that the company’s proposal did not meet the workers’ key priorities.

The revised proposal, announced by Boeing on Wednesday, followed several days of negotiations. Boeing, based in Arlington, Virginia, expressed disappointment over the outcome. Dan Gillian, head of Boeing Air Dominance, stated that the IAM leadership’s refusal to allow a vote on the proposal prevents the opportunity to end the strike. According to Gillian, if accepted, production could resume by next Tuesday.

On Thursday, the union agreed to put the latest offer to a vote among its members, whose approval is crucial for the labor agreement to be enacted and the strike to conclude.

IAM International President Brian Bryant criticized the proposal as an “insult” to workers, arguing that Boeing’s claim of considering workers’ voices was contradicted by the results of the vote.

Approximately 3,200 workers have been on strike since August 4 at Boeing facilities located in St. Louis and St. Charles, Missouri, and Mascoutah, Illinois. These plants produce F-15 and F-18 fighter jets, the T-7 Red Hawk trainer jet system, and the MQ-25 drone.

The company and union representatives have repeatedly reached a tentative labor contract agreement since summer, but IAM members have consistently voted against it on July 27, August 3, September 12, and today.
