The president of the National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel (SNPVAC) confirmed that the strike scheduled to begin on Friday has been called off, and a new company agreement for cabin crew has been approved, which reduces salary inequality compared to other SATA group employees.
Ricardo Penarróias stated that a 1% career advancement for the cabin crew of the airline responsible for inter-island connections was possible.
“We aimed for 2% salary equality, as it is in some workers of the group, but what was achieved was the 1%. Together with other gains in the document, the crew approved the new company agreement and the consequent calling off of the strike,” he noted.
The union leader added that the company committed to minimizing the impacts of working conditions on DashQ200 aircraft, which “reach excessive temperatures,” creating “inhuman conditions for the cabin crew.”
The president of SNPVAC emphasized that the new company agreement contains “other gains” related to operational rules and the “new financial pay model.”
“This new financial model is not exclusive to SATA Air Açores crew members but was the model negotiated by all navigational personnel, namely Azores Airlines cabin crew and SATA Air Açores cabin crew, SATA Air Açores pilots, and Azores Airlines pilots,” he explained.
The SATA Air Açores cabin crew strike, which was scheduled to begin on Friday, has been called off following an agreement between the management and union representatives, the airline announced today.
“The decision results from an understanding reached between the airline’s management and union representatives, following a dialogue process that addressed concerns related to career progression and improving in-flight climate control,” stated SATA in a communiqué.
The cabin crew strike had been called by the National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel (SNPVAC) for July 18-24.
