Earlier this week, approximately 40 flights were canceled due to strong winds that hit the Madeira International Airport area, disrupting the plans of hundreds of passengers.
In response, Miguel Albuquerque, President of the Madeira Government (PSD/CDS-PP), stated on Wednesday that it is impossible to have a plan capable of addressing the cancellation of 40 flights. He emphasized that the management and operation of Madeira airport fall under the responsibility of ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal and noted that the regional government has been exerting “pressure” to enhance operational conditions at the facility.
