A concert at Mateus Fest, part of the Feira de São Mateus in Viseu, was briefly halted today when part of the structure in front of the stage gave way, although no injuries were reported, the organizers confirmed.
The incident took place during the performance of Lon3r Johny and ProfJam, which was paused until safety conditions were restored.
By 11:00 PM, a source from the organization informed that Lon3r Johny and ProfJam’s concert had resumed.
Security forces on the ground intervened following the incident, setting up an expanded safety perimeter in front of the stage, the organizers added.
“The front of the stage was widened to ensure attendees felt comfortable, allowing the festival to continue,” emphasized Viseu Marca, the organizing body behind the Feira de São Mateus, in a statement.
In the same statement, Viseu Marca assured that there were no injuries caused by the incident.
“Viseu Marca has already contacted the structural provider, Filpalcos, one of the country’s largest companies in this sector, which confirms the compliance, assembly, and resilience of the structure. The documentation had been submitted in advance to the Mateus Fest organizers. The company, which has supplied structures for the Feira de São Mateus for over 20 years, will conduct an evaluation to determine the causes and rectify the situation,” the statement read.
The second edition of Mateus Fest, taking place today in Viseu and considered a highlight of the Feira de São Mateus’s program, features Brazilian rapper Matuê as the headliner.
Mateus Fest is part of the Feira de São Mateus, which began on September 7 and will conclude on September 21.
Alongside Brazilian Matuê, the lineup includes Portuguese acts Van Zee, Lon3r Johny, ProfJam, and DJ Perez.
