
As is customary during the summer months, DECO PROteste has conducted an analysis of a basket composed of 12 food products commonly used during this season.
This week, the summer food basket costs 51.28 euros, marking an increase and becoming the “second highest since the beginning of June.”
According to DECO PROteste, the price of the summer basket is “almost 10% more expensive than last year.”
In the analysis, the product with the most significant price increase was plum tomatoes. Between July 30 and August 6, the price rose by 0.36 euros (17.52%), with the price per kilogram increasing from 2.08 euros on July 30 to 2.45 euros on August 6.
Next on the list is the onion, which saw a price change of 13.12%, now costing 1.60 euros (a difference of 0.19 euros).
Rounding out the top three is the red potato, which increased from 1.30 euros on July 30 to 1.60 euros, a variation of 8.27%.
In summary, according to DECO PROteste data, between July 30 and August 6, there is a 1.24-euro price difference when comparing the same basket on these two days.
This additional analysis reveals a difference of 4.48 euros between August 7, 2024, and August 6, 2025.
The analysis covers 12 products typically used during the summer: pork chops, whole chicken, sea bass, gilt-head bream, horse mackerel, extra virgin olive oil, Frankfurt sausages, roasted ground coffee, curly lettuce, plum tomatoes, onions, and red potatoes.
