Sunday will be cloudy with light rain, but temperatures will rise

The rain is expected to continue this Sunday, marking another day of cloudy skies, according to the forecast by the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

“Periods of very cloudy skies are expected, clearing to slightly cloudy in the southern region and in the interior North and Center from mid-morning onwards,” the forecast indicates.

The IPMA also notes the “possibility of light rain or drizzle along the North and Center coast until early afternoon.”

The wind will blow “light to moderate (up to 30 km/h) from the west quadrant, blowing from the northwest in the southern region.”

A “slight rise in maximum temperature is expected, especially in the Center and South regions.”

The maximum temperature is anticipated to range between 32 degrees in Évora, Santarém, and Castelo Branco, and 24 degrees in Porto and Guarda. Meanwhile, minimums will fluctuate between 18 degrees in Faro and 13 degrees in Guarda and Viseu.

What to expect for the rest of the week?

On Friday, the IPMA also released its usual weekly forecast, explaining that from this Sunday until July 20, the mainland is “under the influence of a north or northwest flow,” resulting in a “drop in temperature and northwest wind.”

Along the west coast, “the wind will blow in a moderate or strong nortada regime, with speeds above 30 km/h, especially south of Cabo Carvoeiro.”

Light precipitation, primarily affecting Minho, Douro Litoral, and Beira Litoral today, is expected to occur again at the end of the week.

Temperatures will “register normal values for the season or slightly below normal along the west coast.” The maximum temperature will vary between 22 degrees and 29 degrees “in places closer to the west coast” and above 30 degrees inland, rising in these regions to values above 35 degrees from mid-week.
