Portugal’s Frederico Morais qualified today for the third round of the Margaret River Pro, the fifth stage of the world surfing circuit, beating American Crosby Colapinto and Brazilian Yago Dora.
In the last round before the circuit is reduced to the top 22 in the rankings, and needing a good result to ensure he stays, the surfer from Cascais won the ninth heat, scoring 15.37 points (8.07 and 7.3), beating Colapinto (14.5) and Dora (12.47), who were both relegated to the play-offs.
Before the start of the Margaret River Pro in Western Australia, Frederico Morais was in 29th place on the ranking with 7,310 points – Hawaiian Ian Gentil was in last place with 10,075.
‘Kikas’ is competing on the world circuit for the fifth time, after appearing in 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022.
