The Criminal Investigation Department of Vila Real announced that a fire broke out at around 12:30 AM on July 3, consuming a forested area predominantly comprised of brush and maritime pine.
“A significant forest area and several urban buildings of considerable value were at risk, which were spared due to the swift detection and subsequent intervention by firefighting resources, including locals and firefighters,” stated the Judiciary Police.
The detained individual will appear for a judicial interrogation to determine potential preventive measures.
