The GNR has announced the arrest of an individual on Monday on charges of domestic violence.
During an investigation prompted by a domestic violence report, military personnel were dispatched to the scene. They discovered the suspect engaged in physical, psychological, and verbal abuse against the victim, his 52-year-old mother.
The suspect further threatened the victim and their family with a machete, which was seized by authorities.
The individual was arraigned and appeared on Tuesday at the Judicial Court of Santa Maria da Feira. The court imposed periodic reporting requirements, with the suspect needing to check in at the local police station twice weekly.
Additionally, the suspect is required to maintain a distance from the victim’s residence, with a restriction of 500 meters from the victims and is banned from entering or staying near their home and workplace.
He is also prohibited from possessing weapons or any objects that could be used to commit further crimes.
