The Portalegre District Command of the PSP announced today via its Facebook page that a man was arrested “in flagrante delicto” on Wednesday by the Portalegre Police Division for the crime of domestic violence against his parents.
The police reported that following a phone call to the PSP Station in Portalegre, which reported assaults and threats of death by the son against his parents, police units were promptly dispatched to the scene.
“The complaint was confirmed, with the suspect adopting a hostile stance towards the police intervention,” the PSP stated, adding that “after resorting to the strictly necessary and appropriate force to stop the suspect’s erratic and violent behavior, his arrest was carried out.”
The PSP further reported that the suspect “threatened one of the parents with a knife, pressing it against their face.”
“With the prompt intervention of the PSP, the physical integrity of the victims was preserved,” the police added.
The suspect was brought before a judge on Thursday for the first judicial interrogation, where he was ordered to leave his parents’ residence and was prohibited from contacting the victims in any form as coercive measures.
