An incident occurred on April 26 in the parish of Guilhufe involving a dispute between neighbors, resulting in serious leg injuries to a 59-year-old man over property rights, as clarified by a source from the Guarda.
During the proceedings, the detained individual was subjected to restraining measures, including a ban on contacting the victim and visiting the site of the incident, recalled the GNR statement.
The suspect was detained again on Thursday after officers found he had violated the imposed restraining orders by threatening the victim, the press release adds.
“Given the severity of the facts and the suspect’s repeated conduct, as well as the actual risk to the victim’s safety, the individual was detained,” the Guarda stated, noting that the man has a criminal record for similar offenses.
Presented to the judge at the Judicial Court of Penafiel on the same day, the measure of preventive detention was applied, concludes the press release.
