On Saturday, SATA Azores Airlines announced that the bomb threat which led the S4 504 flight, traveling from Ponta Delgada to Bilbao, Spain, to diverge, “was not validated by the competent authorities after a rigorous inspection of the aircraft and luggage.”
Furthermore, according to the company, “after the conclusion of the procedures by the competent authorities,” the aircraft was authorized to resume its operation, with the Lisbon-Bilbao flight rescheduled for that night, carrying 111 passengers on board.
The two passengers detained in connection with the incident did not continue their journey, SATA Azores Airlines reported.

The bomb threat on a SATA Azores Airlines plane, which forced an emergency landing at Lisbon airport, was a “false alarm,” the Azorean company stated.
Contacted on Saturday, a PJ source stated that an individual was detained for allegedly causing the situation and would be brought to court for an initial detainee interrogation and application of coercive measures.
