A 27-year-old man was arrested in Fafe on Tuesday, November 4, for theft and violating the house arrest measure he was subject to.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the National Republican Guard (GNR) reported that the suspect was apprehended by a patrol after exhibiting “suspicious behavior” when noticed by the officers while walking on the street.
Subsequent inquiries revealed that the man was violating the conditions of his house arrest, which was imposed in connection with a residential burglary case.
A security search of the suspect resulted in the seizure of a key belonging to a vehicle stolen in the Viseu municipality.
The car was subsequently recovered and impounded, along with various items found inside. These included a television, a bicycle, a chainsaw, a gas cylinder, a camping tent, kitchenware, and several tools.
After being presented again before the court, the detainee was remanded in custody.
