A 37-year-old suspect was apprehended in the parish of Fajã de Baixo, in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, following a “foot pursuit” after a theft, which also led to the recovery of all stolen items from the commercial establishment, according to the Azores Regional Command of the Public Security Police (PSP).
In a press statement, the PSP clarified that the suspect was arrested immediately after officers from the Ponta Delgada station were informed about the theft at the commercial establishment and proceeded to the scene.
The police source further noted that the detained individual was already “known for committing various public nature crimes.”
Following a judicial interrogation at the Ponta Delgada Court, the man was “subjected to the preventive custody measure,” as revealed by the PSP in the statement.
