A 47-year-old man suspected of arms and drug trafficking was detained with more than 12,000 euros in cash in Águeda, announced the Polícia Judiciária (PJ).
In a statement released to the press on Thursday, the PJ explained that, through the Criminal Investigation Department of Aveiro, it executed search warrants that led to the man’s arrest.
“The investigated acts originated from the commercial transaction of a prohibited firearm, associated with criminal activity linked to the sale of narcotics,” the statement said.
During the operation, the PJ seized hashish, a precision scale, various firearms—a pistol, a revolver, two shotguns—along with a large quantity of ammunition and over 12,000 euros in cash.
The suspect is said to have “extensive records and criminal history related to violent crimes committed with firearms and drug trafficking” and will be presented to judicial authorities in the Aveiro district for an initial judicial hearing.
