The IGAI stated in a written response to Lusa that it is “awaiting the provision of elements from the PSP” and that the administrative process is ongoing.
The process is linked to the searches conducted on Thursday by the Public Prosecutor’s Office at various stations of the first Police Division of Lisbon, resulting in the arrest of two PSP officers, who are currently being heard in an initial interrogation to determine their respective preventive measures.
Suspected crimes include torture, serious physical assault, embezzlement, and forgery, according to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), in a statement published on its website on Thursday.
“So far, around ten illicit acts have been reported,” added the PGR, noting that it was the PSP who reported the facts under investigation.
The searches were conducted at several stations of the first Police Division of Lisbon, with a police source informing Lusa that they took place, at the very least, at the Bairro Alto and Rato stations.
In addition to the station searches, the Public Prosecutor’s Office also carried out home searches.
The Ministry of Internal Administration, when contacted by Lusa, stated it would not comment on the searches.
