The National Republican Guard (GNR) arrested a 36-year-old man on Friday for possession of a prohibited weapon in the municipality of Almada, it was announced on Saturday. The suspect was found with more than 41,000 euros in cash.
In a statement, the security force explained that during a routine inspection in the locality of Monte da Caparica, officers became “aware of an individual exhibiting suspicious behavior.”
During the operation, a personal search of the man was conducted, resulting in the seizure of a Glock 48 pistol, two magazines, five rounds of ammunition, 41,310 euros in cash, and a mobile phone.
The detainee was made an official suspect, and the case was referred to the Almada Judicial Court.
