TAAG cancels daytime flight to Lisbon on the day of the general strike in Portugal

The airline announced today that the strike is expected to impact several public and private services in Portugal, including operations and support services at Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) in Lisbon.

In response to the strike situation and uncertainty regarding minimum services to be provided, TAAG has decided on a preventive measure, canceling the daytime flight on the Icolo e Bengo/Lisbon/Icolo e Bengo route (DT 652/DT 653), departing from Angola at 13:00, the company explained.

Passengers on this flight will be accommodated on upcoming services at no additional cost, the airline stated.

The nighttime flight DT 650 on the Icolo e Bengo–Lisbon route, departing from Angola at 23:50, will be maintained and conducted as scheduled.

The decision aims to mitigate the risk of long delays and disruptions that could result from the shortage of airport services in Lisbon, according to the company, which regrets the inconveniences caused.

Thursday’s general strike against the Government’s draft labor law reform will be the first strike to unite the two trade union centers, CGTP and UGT, since June 2013, when Portugal was under ‘troika’ intervention.
