The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Margarida Balseiro Lopes, remembered musician Luís Jardim on Friday, describing him as a “talented, multifaceted, and charismatic man.”

“The musician and producer Luís Jardim left us today, unexpectedly. A talented, multifaceted, and charismatic man has disappeared,” the Culture Minister wrote on the social network X.

Margarida Balseiro Lopes conveyed her “condolences to the family and friends” of Luís Jardim and recalled “his collaborations with the greatest stars of international music and several Portuguese artists.”

The musician and music producer Luís Jardim passed away on Friday, July 4, on the day he celebrated his 75th birthday.

The news of his death was announced by Alberto João Jardim, former president of Madeira’s Regional Government and the musician’s cousin. “My cousin, Luís Alberto Gonçalves Jardim, has departed. A musician and entrepreneur, great stars, Beatles included, recorded in his London studio,” wrote the politician on the social network X.

“Memories remain, for his humor and proactivity, his appearances on Portuguese television. See you, Luís,” he added.

The current president of Madeira’s Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, also lamented the death of “dear friend” Luís Jardim.

“With deep sadness, I bid farewell to my dear friend Luís Jardim. A native of Madeira, Luís was much more than a brilliant musician and music producer; he was a generous, talented, and inspiring person,” wrote Miguel Albuquerque in a note posted on Facebook.

Albuquerque emphasized that he had the “privilege of sharing moments” with the producer and witnessed the “impact he left in the music world, both in Portugal and beyond.”
