An aircraft operated by TAP, bound for Vienna, Austria, made an emergency landing at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon this Tuesday afternoon due to unpleasant “odors” detected onboard, a spokesperson from the airline confirmed.
“This occurs in all airlines, worldwide,” TAP explained regarding the phenomenon, which has been recurrent.
Flight TP1272 returned to Lisbon “in complete safety.” Following the landing, passengers are now set to “continue the journey on another aircraft.”
According to FlightRadar24, a global flight tracking service, the plane took off from Lisbon around 2:13 PM and landed around 3:25 PM, having turned back to the Portuguese capital shortly after crossing the Spanish border.

It is worth noting that in April, following similar incidents, TAP assured that it has been attentive to such occurrences of odors leading to emergency landings, emphasizing that these represent a negligible percentage of flights and are a widespread issue in the aviation sector.
