TAP responds to cancellations in Madeira with extra flights and more seats.

A TAP has increased the seating capacity on scheduled flights for today and Tuesday and added two extra flights to accommodate passengers affected by cancellations due to strong winds in Madeira on Sunday.

In response to inquiries regarding the normalization of operations, TAP stated that it “added a total of 858 seats in each travel direction to meet the needs of affected passengers” and that “some passengers from canceled easyJet flights were also accommodated on TAP flights.”

Today and Tuesday, flights previously scheduled with E195 aircraft were replaced with A321neo (+103 seats); those with A320 aircraft were upgraded to A321ceo (+42 seats); and another with A330-200 was changed to A330-900 (+29 seats), collectively adding 368 seats in each travel direction.

Additionally, two extra flights have been arranged for Tuesday morning, one with 269 seats and the other with 221 seats.

More than 30 flights were canceled at Madeira International Airport on Sunday, affecting both arrivals and departures, and 15 were diverted to other airports due to strong winds in the eastern part of the island.

Since June 30, over 100 flights have been canceled at Madeira International Airport due to strong winds.
