TAP has increased its passenger capacity on scheduled flights for today and Tuesday, adding two extra flights to accommodate traffic held up by cancellations due to strong winds in Madeira on Sunday.
In a statement regarding the normalization of operations, TAP indicated it “added a total of 858 seats in each travel direction to address the backlog” and noted that “some passengers from the canceled easyJet flights were also accommodated on TAP flights.”
Today and Tuesday, scheduled flights on E195 aircraft have been upgraded to A321neo (an additional 103 seats), others on A320 to A321ceo (an extra 42 seats), and one on A330-200 to A330-900 (29 more seats), altogether adding 368 seats in each travel direction via these adjustments.
Two extra flights have also been scheduled for Tuesday morning, one offering 269 seats and the other 221.
More than 30 flights were canceled at Madeira International Airport on Sunday, affecting both arrivals and departures, with 15 flights diverted to other airports due to strong winds in the island’s eastern region.
