The work process runs until the end of the year and will involve all cultural agents.

The Tavira Municipality will start, in July, the Tavira Cultura 2030 plan with a view to implementing a municipal cultural strategy for the medium and long term, the municipality said in a statement.

This process, which is intended to be participatory and in collaboration with local cultural agents, aims to contribute to “making Tavira an attractive, identitary, inclusive and sustainable county that promotes its heritage, strengthens its culture and traditions, enhances its endogenous resources and tourism offers, thus strengthening its competitiveness on a regional, national and international scale”.

The plan will be concluded by the end of 2023 and will be developed by a multidisciplinary team that includes technicians from the municipality and external experts, reads the note.

With this work process, we intend to consolidate an integrated municipal cultural policy, with a view to positioning Tavira at regional, national and cross-border levels, both in terms of its cultural programming and by enhancing the value of its heritage and the qualification of its artistic production.

As focuses of this open process we highlight the importance of the Mediterranean Diet as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and Tavira as the Representative Community of Portugal, as well as the reopening of the Cineteatro António Pinheiro, which will contribute to the strengthening of the county as a cultural center of reference in the region in programming, enjoyment, creation, production and cultural mediation.

Tavira Cultura 2030 adopts a participative approach in that it actively involves local cultural agents who will be called upon to participate throughout the process of building the strategy, the note concludes.
