Carlos Alberto Moniz, os Táxi, Camané, Miguel Araújo and António Sala have shows scheduled for Castelo Branco’s Cineteatro Avenida in the second quarter of the year, as part of the municipality’s cultural program.
“With a more diversified offer, there has been a significant increase inmig spectators [at the Cineteatro], particularly at the light music, pop, fado and traditional concerts,” said the mayor of Castelo Branco, Leopoldo Rodrigues.
The mayor argued that the municipality’s cultural policy seeks to meet the expectations of residents and visitors.
“We’ve tried to focus on all areas of expression, from music to theater and dance, as well as multidisciplinary forms of expression of a more erudite or popular nature with a more classical or contemporary language,” he said.
The Castelo Branco City Council’s cultural program for the second quarter of this year includes a show by musician Carlos Alberto Moniz at the Cineteatro Avenida on the 25th at 17:00.
The concert “Abril será sempre amanhã” is part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of April 25, which also coincides with the 55th anniversary of the career of this Portuguese singer and author.
On the 27th, at 9:30 p.m., the Portuguese band Táxi will take to the Cineteatro stage for a concert.
Táxi, a group born in 1979 in the city of Porto, released their first album in 1981, a record that would become the first gold record in Portuguese rock.
On May 11, starting at 9:30 p.m., Cineteatro Avenida will host fado singer Camané, one of the “most important and representative names in the history of fado and Portuguese music, and one of the most acclaimed at national and international level”.
On May 29, broadcaster António Sala will give a musical theater performance as part of the celebrations of his 60-year career.
The show is scheduled for the Cineteatro Avenida, starting at 21:30.
Musician Miguel Araújo has a concert scheduled for June 8, starting at 9:30 p.m., at Cineteatro Avenida.
The program promoted by the Castelo Branco City Council also includes a series of theater, dance, exhibition and music events for the second quarter, covering all the cultural facilities in the municipality.
