A 30-year-old taxi driver was arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP) at Lisbon Airport on March 28, on suspicions of price gouging.
In a statement released on Saturday, the PSP detailed that the man manipulated the fare, charging an additional 38.55 euros above the standard rate for the ride.
The taxi was seized as a precaution and is pending judicial review, according to the PSP.
The suspect was caught in the act, formally charged, and required to provide an identity and residence declaration. He has been notified to appear for an initial judicial hearing.
