On October 1, the Plenary of the Constitutional Court elected judge João Carlos Simões Gonçalves Loureiro as vice-president, according to a statement on the court’s website.
João Carlos Loureiro, who was co-opted as a constitutional judge in April 2023, replaces Gonçalo Almeida Ribeiro, who announced his resignation on September 24 after his term had exceeded its duration.
