A 16-year-old teenager was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of committing aggravated robbery and two counts of qualified bodily harm in the municipality of Sintra. The Public Security Police (PSP) reported that the victims were children aged between 11 and 15.
In a statement to the press, the PSP explained that the offenses took place in Belas, Cacém, and Queluz.
The first incident occurred in Belas when an 11-year-old minor was walking with two friends towards the local football field. At that moment, the suspect approached him, brandished a knife, and demanded he hand over any belongings he had.
The victim only had sports equipment, but before leaving the scene, the suspect stabbed him in the lower back.
The second case happened in Cacém, where a 15-year-old was surrounded by the same suspect, who demanded the victim’s mobile phone. The suspect then assaulted the victim with a broken glass bottle, piercing his left hand and causing a deep incised wound.
The most recent incident took place in Queluz, where the suspect engaged in “violent behavior” and attacked a young person with a stone and a pocketknife following a “disagreement.” The victim required hospital treatment and was threatened later the same day by a group of youths, presumably linked to the suspect.
“The detainee acted with premeditation and employed particularly dangerous means, such as bladed weapons and broken glass, endangering the physical integrity and lives of the victims,” the PSP emphasized.
After the initial judicial interrogation, the suspect was placed under pre-trial detention.
