Two young men aged 17 and 19 were arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP) on August 30 in Parque das Nações, Lisbon, on suspicion of aggravated robbery.
In a statement issued to newsrooms on Tuesday, the PSP explained that “the suspects, using physical force,” “took from the victims their mobile phones, various pieces of clothing, a power bank, and a smartwatch.”
Upon learning of the crime, the officers “conducted immediate and tireless efforts to locate the suspects.”
Once intercepted, the suspects were found with the stolen items, which were “subjected to an identification lineup and were clearly identified by the victims.”
“After the collected evidence was properly consolidated, the suspects were detained outside the act of committing a crime, through arrest warrants issued by the Criminal Police Authority,” stated the release.
The detainees have already appeared before the Judicial Authority for a preliminary hearing, where they received “bi-weekly reporting” as a coercive measure.
