The Portuguese Association of Shopping Centers (APCC) will collaborate with the charity organization Terra dos Sonhos to fulfill the Christmas wish of a group of ten children receiving care at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) in Porto.
In December, Terra dos Sonhos will take the group to Lapland to meet Santa Claus. According to a statement on the official APCC page, the trip will include “various activities, ranging from a meeting with Santa Claus, sleigh rides, interaction with reindeer, sending Christmas postcards from a special post office, among other initiatives”.
“The association we support this year makes a difference in the lives of many people, and we wanted to help in this mission by fulfilling the children’s wish to meet Santa Claus. Making this trip possible is something that touches us, and there are more dreams that can be supported. For this reason, we have also launched a nationwide fundraising campaign for Terra dos Sonhos, targeting other entities and the general public. With a small contribution from everyone, it’s possible to help hundreds of children,” said the executive director of the Portuguese Association of Shopping Centers, Carla Pinto, in a statement sent to the newsrooms.
Terra dos Sonhos aims to continuously promote the well-being of children, young people, and adults in vulnerable situations, supporting, caring for, and fulfilling dreams. Since its inception in 2007, it has realized over 860 children’s dreams.
“These partnerships allow us to continue our work and make dreams come true. The trip to Lapland is a truly unique experience, and this year, thanks to this support, we will provide the magic of Santa Claus’s world to 10 more children”, said the executive director of Terra dos Sonhos, Ana Franco de Sousa, in the same note.
She added that “collaboration is also essential to enhance Terra dos Sonhos’s visibility and involve an increasing number of people in fulfilling the dreams of children and young people with chronic illnesses or at the end of life”.
Alongside this initiative, another nationwide fundraising campaign for Terra dos Sonhos aims to support other children. The action is directed at the general public.
