Trade unions met with the CEO of Altice on June 25 to discuss the impending transformation within the company.
The unions reported uncertainty regarding the future of the Covilhã data center, despite significant investments in the network, aiming to transition into a digital operator and strengthen all market segments.
According to the unions, achieving the CEO’s vision relies on having satisfied and valued employees with improved salaries. The company aims to invest in talent, skill development, and technological growth, requiring greater organizational agility.
Changes in behavior are fundamental for the company, which emphasizes the need to improve service and ambition, moving away from past paradigms. As a result, a dedicated team has been established for this purpose.
The company LHH-DBM will support employees seeking to pursue “RMA,” or mutual agreement terminations.
The company acknowledges that not all employees will adapt to these changes and plans to provide incentives for retirement, early retirement plans, voluntary exits, and negotiated dismissals, as stated in the communication.
Unions noted that nearly 200 workers have already resigned, with a target of an additional 400, generally without unemployment benefits.
For RMAs, the terms include “two salaries per year,” along with two years of health plan and two years of communication plan, with interest to be expressed by the end of July.
The departure of these workers, whether through negotiated dismissals or contract suspensions, is intended to invest in new, more skilled workers, career changes, and potentially new salaries.
Lusa contacted Altice, which declined to comment on this matter.
