A collision between two cars resulted in one fatality and left two individuals with serious injuries at 6:30 a.m. The injured parties were transported to Penafiel Hospital.
Officers from the GNR’s Traffic Accident Investigation Unit (NICAV) were present at the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
The crash occurred in the direction of Vila Real–Amarante, shortly after the Marão Tunnel on the A4 highway. The road was reopened to traffic at 11:30 a.m. following emergency and cleanup operations.
The highway was closed between the Campeã and Padronelo junctions.
A total of 13 personnel, supported by five vehicles, were deployed to the site.
