
Diogo Carvalho, born in Madrid in 1977 and residing in Portugal, had been connected with the animation industry since 2001. He joined the production company Lampadacesa in 2006, contributing to the short film ‘Cândido’ by José Pedro Cavalheiro (Zepe).
His biographical note states that between 2010 and 2015, Diogo Carvalho worked in animation and advertising direction, but he dedicated the majority of his career to production at the company Sardinha em Lata.
“He was one of the producers who provided more international visibility to Portuguese animation in recent years, deeply connected to audiovisuals and animated series,” recalled Nuno Beato. “His focus was on international markets and festivals.”
Diogo Carvalho was involved in the production of several projects, including the series ‘Ilha das Cores’, ‘Ema & Gui’, and ‘O diário de Alice’. He also worked on the feature film ‘Os demónios do meu avô’ by Nuno Beato, and the short films ‘Viagem a Cabo Verde’ by José Miguel Ribeiro, ‘Olhos do Farol’ by Pedro Serrazina, and ‘The monkey’ by Lorenzo Degl’Innocenti and Xosé Zapata, which was awarded a Goya in Spain in 2022.
