The Devil (continues) to Wear Prada. A sequel to the film is already confirmed.

A sequel to the film ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is currently in production, with the return of several characters from the original film, including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.

The British actor Kenneth Branagh has joined the cast and will play the husband of Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of the magazine portrayed by Meryl Streep.

The confirmation of the sequel to the iconic 2000s film was made by Disney 20th Century Studios in a post on their Instagram, stating it will be in theaters on May 1, 2026.

A short teaser was shared in which two red high-heeled shoes are seen, with the heels resembling devil tridents.

The teaser features the lines “Can you please spell Gabbana?” and “I refuse to be sick. I’m wearing Valentino, for crying out loud,” alluding to some of the iconic phrases from the first film.

It is noteworthy that the poster for the first film featured only a single red shoe.

What is the story of ‘The Devil Wears Prada’?

The film, released in 2006 and based on a novel by Lauren Weisberger, follows aspiring journalist Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) as she is hired at a fashion magazine in New York City, where she becomes the assistant to the feared editor-in-chief.

No details about the storyline of the sequel have been disclosed yet. However, the new film will reportedly follow Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) as she grapples with the decline of traditional magazine publishing. She will also face off against Emily Blunt’s character, her former assistant who now holds a high-level position at a luxury company.

The role of Anne Hathaway in the storyline remains unclear since her character left Runway magazine to work for a newspaper at the end of the first film.

‘The Devil Wears Prada’ will celebrate its 20th anniversary on October 26 next year.
