The single currency strengthened against the British pound but lost ground to the Japanese yen.
The European Central Bank (ECB) established the euro’s reference exchange rate at .0815.
In Germany, the annual inflation rate decelerated to 2.2% in March, down from 2.3% in February, according to preliminary data released by the German federal statistics agency, Destatis.
The data released today indicated that month-on-month, the inflation rate in Germany rose by 0.3% in March compared to February.
The core inflation rate, which excludes food and energy prices, is estimated to have been 2.5% in March, down from 2.7% in February.
Service prices increased at an above-average pace in March, rising by 3.4% year-on-year, slightly below the 3.8% recorded in February.
Food product prices saw slightly above-average increases, growing by 2.9% compared to 2.4% in February.
Conversely, energy prices fell by 2.8% year-on-year in March, following a 1.6% decrease in the previous month.
