
The clarification emerged towards the end of Ana Paula Martins’ hearing at the Assembly of the Republic during the specialized discussion of the State Budget for 2026 (OE2026).
In the afternoon, responding to a question from the Left Bloc deputy, Mariana Mortágua, the minister stated that the savings estimate was 100 million euros, although she did not assure that this amount could be achieved, considering the National Health Service’s reliance on these professionals.
According to the explanatory note of the State Budget for 2026, a decrease of 29 million euros (-2%) is anticipated, reflecting a 2% savings in line with the intention to reduce expenditure associated with external services, notably temporary workers.
