A reduction in the final price of gasoline and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for small-scale artisanal and coastal fishing, small agriculture, and salt production has been announced, aligning with the reduction applicable to diesel consumed in the fishing industry, as specified in the ordinance.
The costs associated with this subsidy will be covered by the budget of the Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services (DGRM) up to 650,000 euros.
This support is available to individuals and businesses engaged in small-scale artisanal and coastal fishing, owning registered vessels on the mainland with a valid license, and utilizing gasoline or LPG.
Inclusion extends to individuals and micro, small, and medium enterprises with aquaculture exploitation licenses or titles for aquaculture activities on the mainland, with declared production volumes in the past three years under 20 tons. Eligible parties should own local or coastal auxiliary vessels for supporting their operations, using gasoline or LPG as fuel.
Alternatively, owners of equipment such as motor pumps, generators, motor tillers, brush cutters, high-pressure washers, crane engines, machines for bivalve twining, cargo lifts, sorting/calibrating machines, or other related equipment are also eligible.
The support further includes individuals and micro and small and medium enterprises holding licenses for salt production facilities and owning equipment such as agricultural tractors, crane engines, high-pressure pumps, or rotating machines.
Applications must be submitted to the DGRM or via the Electronic Sea Desk (BMar) by September 15.
If the subsidy amount is less than 25 euros, payment will not be made.
This ordinance, signed by Finance Minister Joaquim Miranda Sarmento and Agriculture and Fisheries Minister José Manuel Fernandes, takes effect on January 1, 2025.
