The Polícia Judiciária (PJ) released images from the operation ‘Desarme 3D’ on Tuesday, during which six members of the far-right group Movimento Armilar Lusitano (MAL) were arrested.
As part of this operation, the PJ executed 15 search and seizure warrants, both residential and non-residential, confiscating various types of explosive materials, multiple firearms—some manufactured using 3D technology—several 3D printers, dozens of ammunition rounds, bladed weapons, and computer equipment.
In the video released by the PJ, available in the gallery above, some of these seized pieces of evidence can be seen.
The six detainees are strongly indicated for committing crimes related to terrorist groups and activities, discrimination, incitement to hatred and violence, and possession of prohibited weapons.
The investigation, led by the PJ’s National Counterterrorism Unit, commenced after detecting online “indicators of extremist manifestations by nationalists and far-right radical and violent ideologues, followers of an anti-system and conspiratorial ideology that encouraged discrimination, hatred, and violence against immigrants and refugees.”
The suspects are believed to be members of the MAL, which “aimed to establish itself as a political movement, supported by an armed militia,” and “are indicated for acts fitting the crimes of terrorist offenses, violent alteration of the constitutional state, and possession of prohibited weapons.”
Among those arrested, as reported by CNN Portugal, is a chief from the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) transferred to Lisbon’s Municipal Police due to connections with the far-right group.
The inquiry is overseen by the Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

A PSP chief, recently transferred to the Municipal Police of Lisbon, was among those detained for connections with the far-right movement.
