The next parliament will have the same number of women as in 2024.

The elected female representatives constitute 33.6% of the total deputies, with four mandates from the overseas constituencies still pending. Among the women candidates in this category is Maria Emília Ribeiro from the Socialist Party (PS) in the Europe constituency.

From the seats already allocated, the Democratic Alliance (AD) secured 28 women representatives, the PS 21, Chega 17, the Liberal Initiative (IL) three, and Livre another three. The Communist Party (PCP), the Left Bloc (BE), and the People-Animals-Nature party (PAN) each elected one female deputy. In the Azores, the coalition of PPD/PSD.CDS-PP.PPM also elected one female deputy.

Following Sunday’s legislative election results, AD elected a total of 86 deputies, PS 58, Chega 58, IL nine, Livre six, PCP three, BE one, and PAN one.

In the Azores, the coalition of PPD/PSD.CDS-PP.PPM secured three deputies, while in Madeira, the Juntos pelo Povo (JPP) elected one deputy.

After the gender parity law was revised in 2019 to mandate a minimum of 40% for each gender on electoral lists, the 2022 legislative results had already fallen short, with 85 women elected, representing 37% of parliament.

This target drifted further from reach in the 2024 legislative elections and once again in the recent Sunday election.
