The parliamentary leader of Livre says that AD and IL are synonymous with instability.

In a closing campaign rally held in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto district, Livre’s co-spokesperson stated, “An alliance of AD with IL signifies instability for the country and therefore is not a solution we want to see emerge from these elections.” In the previous elections, Livre secured its first deputy in this region.

Throughout her 20-minute speech, Isabel Mendes Lopes emphasized that Portugal stands on the brink of yet another round of snap elections, attributing this to the actions of the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, whom she accused of prioritizing personal interests over the country’s needs.

Lopes criticized Luís Montenegro, claiming that despite his calls for national stability, he has failed to provide such stability during his latest 11-month tenure. Addressing an audience of over 200, Lopes questioned the trustworthiness of the PSD president.

“The stability that Luís Montenegro is asking us for is a fallacy,” she declared.

Adding to her criticisms, Lopes mentioned IL’s readiness to align with AD, despite previous claims that Luís Montenegro prioritized his family business, Spinumviva, over national interest. “He said this, but later voted in favor of a government confidence motion,” she recalled.

According to her, solutions from AD and IL seem to offer nothing but rights reduction.

Lopes also addressed the role of the party Chega, suggesting it contributes only confusion, hatred, and disrespect. Given this landscape, she stressed the importance of Livre’s growth and the need for a larger parliamentary group.
