The President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs attended the mass honoring the Pope at the Lisbon Cathedral.

Representing the government, Paulo Rangel refrained from giving statements upon entering the Sé, emphasizing that it was “a religious celebration and that this character should be respected.” Marcelo, who had already addressed the nation at 8:00 PM, also opted not to make any remarks.

Several notable figures attended the mass scheduled for 9:00 PM, including the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, CDS leaders Telmo Correia and deputy Paulo Núncio, along with Paulo Rangel and the Minister of Internal Administration, Margarida Blasco, who were positioned in the front row during the Eucharist.

Hundreds of faithful congregated at the Sé de Lisboa to bid farewell to Pope Francis, with some attendees having to stand due to the large turnout.

The Patriarchate of Lisbon provided an external screen for those who wished to follow the Eucharist from outside.
